Eastern Winds

August 15, 2012
Eastern Winds is an instrumental tune that heralds the promise of sunrise from beyond the seasons as adventure and conflict meld on the horizon.

Often associated with evil and destruction in biblical settings, the East Wind also symbolizes change.  As Arthur Conan Doyle reflected in “His Last Bow” with Sherlock Holmes addressing Doctor Watson:

“There’s an east wind coming, Watson.”

“I think not, Holmes. It is very warm.”

“Good old Watson! You are the one fixed point in a changing age. There’s an east wind coming all the same, such a wind as never blew on England yet. It will be cold and bitter, Watson, and a good many of us may wither before its blast. But it’s God’s own wind none the less, and a cleaner, better, stronger land will lie in the sunshine when the storm has cleared.”

The song definitely has the air of change about it – and a bit of an old world feel, too 🙂 Actually, I’ve been playing your songs in the background while I blog read. Very soothing soundtrack 🙂

Beautiful music, George, and very well composed. It does not only carry indeed the feel of change, but it also fits the painting very well.
    Ciao, Francina

Thanks, Francina! I appreciate your critique and glad it comes across that way. Sometimes all the pieces fit together in just the right way. Cheers!
